May Newsletter by Webb Hubbell

GameofInches_TempOct21Dear Readers:

May is certainly proving to be an exciting month. First and foremost, Jack Patterson will be back in only three weeks in his latest thriller, A Game of Inches. Be sure and preorder your copies today from either Amazon, Barnes and Noble, or your local independent bookstore. If you want an autographed copy simply go to webbhubbell.com and place your order. I will be mailing those orders out the day I receive my books from the publisher, Beaufort Books.

Early review of A Game of Inches. The first review is in:

A Game of Inches lets the reader jump right into a family of fond characters, and smart, fast-paced storytelling which offers insight into the powerful force that football has become in our society. From Webb’s playing days at Arkansas, he can uniquely entwine the loyalty and lifetime bond of teammates in his masterful writing.” —Dr. Terry Don Phillips, retired Director of Athletics, Clemson University

Events In May. This former Razorback heads to NW Arkansas tomorrow to address the Eight Circuit Judicial Conference. Also on the program are Chief Justice John Roberts and Commissioner of Major League Baseball, Robert Manfred.  The following week I will be attending and signing books at Book Expo America (“BEA”). I hope if you are in either area you will drop by so we can visit. Later in the month, I will also be speaking at Gastonia’s rotary club and attending and speaking at the Redford Reads Book Festival in Redford, Va. Hope to see you there.

Ginger Snaps Book CoverGinger Snaps Wins Gold. My second book in the Jack Patterson series won the Gold IPPY Medal for outstanding suspense/thriller of the year. This honor is bestowed by the Independent Publishers Association and I am extremely honored. My first Jack Patterson novel, When Men Betraywon an IndieFAB award. I am so grateful to my publisher and his fabulous team for all the hard work they put in to make these awards possible.

A Favor To Ask. After you have read A Game of Inches and you enjoyed it take a moment to go to Amazon, Barnes and Noble, Goodreads or any other online book reviewer and write a short review even if all you do is award it five stars. Even more importantly, help me spread the word by telling your friends, your book clubs, church groups or business organizations about the Jack Patterson series. It makes a huge difference.

Giveaways. If you go to GoodReads you will see I am giving away three autographed copies of A Game of Inches. Sign up even if you have already ordered your copy. You can always give one away to your local or school library. Speaking of giveaways. If your charitable organization would like an autographed copy of a Jack Patterson novel contact me at [email protected]. A limited number of copies are still available.

Webb Hubbell: Friends in High Places Book CoverCurrent State of Politics: Surely by May we will know who the nominees are for the two major parties. Then again, I’ve been wrong a lot about this election so far, and I see no signs of that stopping. My hope and dreams are that we start to hear a little more about dreams about our future than our fears. I used to have a rule that I wouldn’t vote for anyone unless he/she told me the reasons why I should vote For that individual not why I should be Against the opponent. I ended up too often not having anyone to vote for.

Whether you are a supporter of former President Bill Clinton or not, I used to overhear many times people coming up to him saying they wanted to run for public office and what advice would he give. It was always the same answer He said, “You must be able to articulate in clear terms why you are running for office, and what you will do if elected.” He never suggested that a good reason to run is to be against another person or an issue. His emphasis was always on the For not the Against.

Speaking Opportunities: My May calendar is pretty full, but there is always room for a few more opportunities. We haven’t started to put together our summer or fall schedule yet so if you would like me to speak to your organization, university, or church contact either [email protected] or me at [email protected]. If you would like to schedule a book signing, other book related event, or a media interview contact [email protected].

Until next month all the very best and don’t forget to preorder A Game of Inches at webbhubbell.com.
