Hard Not To Be Cynical

One of my many non-paying jobs that hopefully will lead to somewhere someday is my writing twice a month for the Clyde Fitch Report in a column called Hubbell’s Telescope. I have noticed lately that my tone is becoming less authentic, more cynical, and I am disappointed in myself.

It’s hard not to be cynical when we are pounded by cynics everyday when it comes to politics, business, world affairs, and sports. No one is to be believed, no one is to be trusted, and no one is who they seem. If you were stay up and listen to News TV and Sports for 24 hours one would be depressed no end.

Just because something is hard doesn’t make it impossible, so I need to make sure I bring a healthy case of cynicism to my own writing, and to make sure that that cynicism doesn’t make it into the pages of the books I am writing. I am excited about the upcoming publication of my newest novel, “Ginger Snaps,” and the continued interest and fantastic reviews of “When Men Betray.” Book three is in the works, and if you are interested in having me come to your book club or have a book signing for “Ginger Snaps” this summer just send me an email at [email protected].

Remember to order your copy of When Men Betray or to preorder your copy of Ginger Snaps today by going to Amazon.com, B&N.com, going to your local bookstore, or by ordering online at www.webbhubbell.com.
