Despite uncontrollable delays, “A Game of Inches” is making its mark as a summer must-read.
First the Charlotte Observer recognizes it as one of the five top fiction books of the summer, that review was picked up by the Tribune Newspapers nationwide. Now the Arkansas Democrat-Gazette choose it as one of its summer sizzlers saying:
“Webb Hubbell , former Little Rock mayor and Arkansas Supreme Court chief justice, has found a second (or maybe third) career as a writer of legal thrillers in the John Grisham/Richard North Patterson mode. His latest, the recently published A Game of Inches (Beaufort Books, $24.95), is his best yet — they’re far better written and a little bit smarter than they have to be.”
Autographed copies are currently available at webbhubbell.com and hard copies are being sold now at most independent bookstores. The book is available in eVersion at Amazon, Barnes and Noble, and iBooks. Amazon says hard copies will be available on August 15, 2016 on its website.
The set of Jack Patterson Series of Thrillers — When Men Betray, Ginger Snaps, and A Game of Inches makes a wonderful gift to your hosts who have invited you to their beach or mountain home, for your house-sitter or dog-walker, or just about anyone who enjoys five-star reads.

Watch for Webb Hubbell’s monthly newsletter at webbhubbell.com. A new feature beginning this month will be recipes for some of Jack’s favorite recipes. As Dannye Powell, the legendary book reviewer, notes about Jack:
“Jack Patterson loves to eat – especially in hotel restaurants – and the novel is filled with descriptions of mouth-watering food and drink. Hot sandwiches and ribs. Steamed Maryland blue crabs, fresh corn and biscuits. Fried catfish and lemon icebox pie. A filet with creamed spinach. Crabmeat appetizer and chopped salad (at Morton’s on Connecticut Avenue). Pulled pork sandwiches, a side order of dry-rubbed ribs, baked beans, slaw and collards.”
The Republican convention just ended and the Democratic convention starts next week. A must read before the political season gets any hotter is Webb’s Friends In High Places. Carl Bernstein of Watergate fame calls Friends In High Places “an essential text” about the Clinton’s.
Again, before football season begins and while you are staying inside to keep cool, curl up with a good book and enjoy the “dog days of summer.”
